Vodafone hasn’t given up on iPhone

It may have initially lost out in Europe, but Vodafone is still hoping that it can work with Apple for future versions of the iPhone, starting in 2008.

Apple are still desperately trying to work with various other mobile service providers to get a faster remote Internet connection – including Vodafone and 3G.

Arun Sarin, Vodafone’s Chief Executive, said that the company would definitely get another opportunity to work with Apple – possibly in the next six to 12 months, which ties in with rumours that Apple will be launching an updated iPhone sometime in the first half of 2008 that will be capable of running on the faster 3G network.

In other iPhone news, Orange’s Chief Executive, Didier Lombard, has confirmed that they’ll be carrying the iPhone in France, while T-Mobile in Germany revealed that they would have the iPhone there.

In the announcement, Steve Jobs said, "We're thrilled to be partnering with T-Mobile to bring the iPhone to Germany. Customer response to iPhone in the US has been incredible, and we can't wait to introduce T-Mobile customers to the most revolutionary mobile device on the planet."

The iPhone in Germany will also have access to T-Mobile’s global hot spot network, with 20,000 hot spots worldwide and over 8,000 in Germany alone – making them the biggest WiFi provider in the world.

The iPhone will go on-sale in Germany on 9 November (the same day as the UK) and will cost €399.
