McCartney says Beatles deal is ‘virtually settled’

Paul McCartney’s new solo album, Memory Almost Full, will be on iTunes and he’s also revealed that the full Beatles back catalogue won’t be far behind it.
McCartney has signed a deal with Starbucks to give the album – which will be released on 5 June – prime space on the coffee chain’s Hear Music area in the iTunes Store. A strong indicator that the former Beatle is warming to the idea of having the Fab Four’s music online.
In an interview with Billboard magazine, McCartney stated that a deal to release the digital rights to the Beatles music is ‘virtually settled’.
The long-running battle between Apple Corps (the Beatles company) and Apple Inc was resolved this year, and EMI (the Beatles’ distributors) recently announced that they’d be offering their full digital catalogue (minus the Beatles tracks) free of Digital Rights Management software.
