Patent reveals revolutionary dock connector
James Oakwood

A patent was recently released from the US Patent and Trademark Office that shows that Apple may be working on a unique docking device for the iPod.
The patent was filed on 9 August 2005, and clearly shows an iPod-shaped device being attached wirelessly to a dock, with electrical contacts being used to allow it to recharge and also transfer information – most cordless telephones use a similar technology.
There’s plenty of technobabble to wade through (all of which can be read by clicking on the link below), but there’s no denying that it would make docking the device much simpler.
And, more importantly, is it too late for this feature to be implemented into the iPhone before it’s released in June?

Let's hope that Apple get this sorted for the next iPod release.
