My iPod’s dead – should I get it fixed or buy a new one?

Sorry to hear that. Still, there’s always hope of a resurrection. It obviously depends on what’s wrong with your iPod in the first place, so it’s worth sending it off to a repair company for a free evaluation. If it’s the battery, screen or hard drive, then the chances are that you can get a replacement part (and, in many cases, a better-specced one than the original) for a reasonable price. For example, a new hard drive can cost upwards of £110 ($200) and a new screen could set you back £70 ($130). Before you start worrying though, contact a reputable repairer in your country and ask them for their advice. In the UK we recommend UK iPod Repairs or the iPod Doctor and in the US we suggest you try iPod ResQ.
