Apple clamp down on 6G iPod video

0 comments 23 July 2007
In a rare move by Apple, their legal department has asked a website to remove a video claiming to show the user interface of the next generation iPod.
The video was added to the MacRumors website on Saturday morning, and after a flood of interest from the Apple community, Apple forced it to be removed shortly afterwards. There’s no shortage of fake videos and images to be found online, but this is the first occasion that we know of where Apple have asked for one to be removed, which prompted many to assume that it wasn’t a fake.
The short video runs through various elements of a new iPod operating system that works in a similar way to the iPhone’s one – which is likely, as Steve Jobs recently revealed that Apple were working on a version of OS X for iPods.
The minute-long video shows someone selecting a Beatles track from the Love album by using a scrolling interface that’s practically identical to the one on the iPhone. It then, oddly, goes on to show the World Clock function.
The story has received (at the time of writing) 393 comments, but in a quick poll on the comments list, only 32% of the voters believed the video to be real.
But you can see the video for yourself, as we managed to track it down on YouTube. We recommend that you get there quickly though, as it possibly won’t be on there for long.
