With an iPhone European launch rumoured to be set for 1 November, here is the very latest news on who could to be carrying the iPhone when it’s released.
UK Despite heavy interest from T-Mobile and Vodafone, the frontrunner now appears to be O2. According to The Times, negotiations with Vodafone broke down over commercial terms. O2, on the other hand, seem happy to offer Apple continuing revenue from each iPhone customer. O2 has an installed user base of 18 million customers.
Germany As we reported yesterday, the T-Mobile network in Germany seems likely to pick up the iPhone contract.
Spain There’s less competition in Spain for the iPhone rights, and it appears that Telefónica – who, interestingly, also own O2 – will be the likely carriers.
France Again, competition isn’t quite so fierce here, so Apple are expected to go with Orange in France.
Switzerland The originally titled Swisscom are apparently about to announce that they’ll be carrying the iPhone in Switzerland.
