How to convert your iPhone into a WiFi iPod

Bought an iPhone but would rather have it as a straight iPod than an actual mobile phone? Fear not, as it would appear that someone’s already done the work for you.
Firstly, the Unofficial Apple Weblog reported that if you simply remove the AT&T sim card then the iPhone still operates as an iPod, and you’re still able to use email and Safari – as long as you’re in range of a WiFi hotspot, obviously.
Then Alex King revealed on his blog that he not only removed the SIM card but also cancelled his AT&T contract – which you’re entitled to do as long as it’s within 30 days of first using the iPhone.
Of course, there’s an argument that says: ‘Why would you want to spend hundreds of dollars on a 4 or 8Gig iPhone and then remove its main function?’, but as Alex King clearly illustrates, there’s obviously a small amount of iPhone users who want to do exactly that.
To read Alex King’s blog in full, go here.
