Steve Jobs speaks out

There was another speech by Steve Jobs yesterday, only this time it was exclusively for Apple staff on the company’s Cupertino campus.
With the release of the iPhone now less that 24 hours away, Jobs used the opportunity to rouse the Apple troops with a company-wide speech, where he claimed that the iPhone was the biggest and most important launch in Apple’s history.
Apparently, for the first time ever, the meeting hall was packed to capacity and many Apple staff were forced to wander around the Apple campus.
There was a further surprise for Apple staff though, as Jobs announced that all Apple staff who’d been with the company for a year or more (full- or part-time) would receive an 8GB iPhone free of charge by the end of July.
There was also an interesting revelation for those of us patiently waiting for the next iPod, as Jobs revealed that a similar version of OS X to the one that appears in the iPhone is also being developed for ‘some iPods we’re working on’.
