Apple Responds to European Commission

Apple has responded antitrust concerns expressed by the European Commission.
The questions raised relate to the pricing of songs on the iTunes online service across a number of European countries.
The commission had expressed concerns with Apple and several unnamed record companies about iTunes’ policy of prohibiting users in one country from downloading music from a website aimed at users in other territories.
“They answered yesterday and we are studying [the response] carefully at this point,” said a European Commission spokesperson.
Apple claims that it actually attempted to operate one single iTunes service across Europe, but had been prevented from doing so by various record labels and music publishers.
