Apple has issued a new set of iPhone technical specifications, detailing substantially improved battery performance.
Its latest announcement reveals that the iPhone’s battery will provide up to eight hours of talk time, 24 hours of audio, six hours of web access, and seven hours of video playback. It will also boast enough charge to sit for 250 hours on standby. The company also announced that the entire upper surface of the device has been upgraded. Optical quality glass (rather than plastic) will now be used, offering better visual clarity and resistance to damage.
“With 8 hours of talk time, and 24 hours of audio playback, iPhone’s battery life is longer than any other ‘Smartphone’ and even longer than most MP3 players,” says Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’ve also upgraded iPhone’s entire top surface from plastic to optical-quality glass for superior scratch resistance and clarity. There has never been a phone like iPhone, and we can’t wait to get this truly magical product into the hands of customers starting just 11 days from today.”
