Films confirmed for iTunes Europe

In an interview with Les Echos in France, Apple's European Vice President, Pascal Cagni, announced that Apple will be releasing films through the iTunes Store in Europe.
According to the Macworld UK site, Cagni said that films would definitely be available through the store before the end of the year. He also confirmed that the iPhone will be launched across Europe in the fourth quarter of this year, as well as plans to open a large Apple retail store in Paris.
iPlay opinion While it’s reassuring to have these confirmed, there’s little here that we didn’t already know. As iPhone is holding pretty well to its June deadline in the US, it’s no surprise that Europe will follow suit – as long as Apple can find a European carrier first, though.
We also know that Apple will be releasing movies on the iTunes Store in Europe this year – although we don’t expect there to be a lot of TV shows to back them up. Speaking to our sources, we have every reason to believe that movies could arrive in Europe a lot sooner than the ‘end of the year’ that Cagni claimed.
