Could fingerprinting iPods reduce crime?
James Oakwood

In a review on crime by the British government, they suggest that making electronic devices (like the iPod) fingerprint-activated could reduce petty crime in the UK.
The review wants to: "Work in partnership with businesses to crime-proof their products, services and processes to the highest standards. One example could be introducing fingerprint activation of MP3 players."
The procedure – called biometrics – is already being used on laptops to prevent their data being stolen and could theoretically be installed on any device. Now while we’re certainly not experts in this field, we suspect that adding something like this to a touch-sensitive screen would be relatively straightforward.
