Vodafone leading iPhone race?

The Guardian reported last week that Apple has recently been in contact with several European mobile phone companies, and Vodafone is the current front runner.
Keen to pick one company to offer coverage across the whole European region, industry insiders claim that Vodafone are at the top of the shortlist. This is unlikely to please Carphone Warehouse, one of the UK’s largest mobile phone retailers – though, as they fell out with Vodafone last year and are unable to stock any of their contracts online or instore.
