New iPod on the way?

One of the best rumours going around iPlay Towers is that Apple are going to use the same Multi-Touch technology used in the iPhone for the next generation of the iPod.
To be honest, that won’t shock many devoted Apple fans, as it’s a logical step for them, but we have hard on the digital grapevine that Apple could be ready to launch a 100Gb touchscreen iPod a lot sooner than some might have imagined…
We at iPlay Collective generally tend to treat a lot of the rumours surrounding iPods with a substantial pinch of salt, but it would appear sensible for Apple to use the Multi-Touch technology in other forms. Also, judging from what we’ve noticed from the forums, people are happy with the iPhone but would be even happier if Apple had also released the oft-rumoured Sixth Generation iPod.
If we were pushed into a corner, we’d probably say that we think Apple will release a widescreen, touchscreen iPod with a very similar design to the iPhone and a 100Gb hard drive sometime in the next 6-10 months. But don’t hold us to that…
