Already a hugely popular mobile phone game, it’s pretty obvious that The Sims Bowling is another game that’s perfectly suited to the iPod clickwheel format. Having said that, Sims fans who are expecting a ‘life’ simulation might be disappointed.
The Sims Bowling is, simply, a bowling game with The Sims license tagged on. There is an option to create a customised Sim of your own, but that’s pretty much where the similarity ends.
Thankfully though, this is a good enough bowling simulation in itself. Start a game and you first have to pick the spot on the lane to bowl from, then you pick the strength, direction and angle, all through the clickwheel.
The ‘Sim Life’ mode allows you to build up popularity points in a simple variation on a story mode. You can also earn money to buy customised kit from the game’s shop, too.
We liked The Sims Bowling. EA have been considerate enough to add enough bonus features and game options to a game that could’ve been little more than a cheap excuse to extend the Sims license. As it is, there’s more than enough here to recommend a purchase.

Vary the direction of your shots to find an angle that’s perfect for you. Sometimes it works to go to the side of the alley and throw across the lane. |
