Council give away an iPod, Apple forced to improve their after-sales service in China, learn poker on your iPod and mysterious ad appears on the side of Apple Store…
Council giving away an iPod Colchester Borough Council are embracing the UK Government’s plans for recycling by offering a competition to win an iPod. Every council tax bill that the borough’s residents receive in the post comes with a survey asking them about their recycling habits. As an incentive to fill out the survey, a person picked at random who returns their survey by 7 May will win an iPod. "Nobody likes receiving their council tax bill," said Councillor Christopher Arnold, "but at least this year it brings a chance to get something back from the Council."
Poker legend gambles on downloadable tutorials If you’ve ever wished you could play Poker like the best, then now’s your chance, as one of the masters of Texas Hold ’Em, Phil Hellmuth Jr, has created a downloadable course to put on your iPod. Available here, the course of 48 downloads promises to take you from being a Poker novice to the sort of person you see walking out of casinos with a girl on each arm and the keys to a Ferrari in their pocket. Well, maybe not quite that far, but Hellmuth is confident that his course will make you a Poker master. "You can study up on the train, your next flight to Vegas or commuting to work,” he says. “There is all new Phil Hellmuth strategy here and it's worth its cyber weight in gold!" The course lasts over four hours and will cost you $150, although you can buy individual modules for between $10-$80.
Apple to improve their after-sales record in China After many Chinese iPod owners complained about poor after-sales service, the company has sent a letter to the consumer protection commission in Shanghai saying that it promises to improve it. Owners have two areas of complaint: the fact that Apple shortened the iPod’s maintenance period from one year to three months and the fact that Apple use refurbished iPods to replace faulty items. iPhone ad appears on Apple Store If you’re observant, you’ll notice that we said ‘on’ as opposed to ‘in’ in the title of this news story, and that’s because an ad for the iPhone appeared, quite literally, on the side of the uber-trendy Apple Store on 5th Avenue, New York. Unfortunately, the advert didn’t stay up for long, but we’re grateful to Matthew Yohe, who was quick enough to take a few photos – one of which you’ll find on this page.
