To be perfectly honest, we weren’t particularly impressed with the original Pac-Man on the iPod and for obvious reasons – how do you transfer the four-button movement to a scroll wheel? And it’s also fair to say that those same problems are to be found in this ‘sequel’. Having said that though, there’s also enough original charm here to make Ms. Pac-Man a more interesting proposition – although still not an essential purchase for your iPod.

Start a game and everything seems pretty familiar. You still get a maze, dots and ghosts, but there are a couple of neat new features, too.

For starters, there’s now an Easy mode, which definitely goes some way to reduce the frustration caused by the control method, as the slower pace gives you longer time to react. On top of that you’ll find that there are now multiple warp tunnels and a choice of up to four mazes. Sure, these are little additions in the grand scheme of things, but they’re important ones nonetheless.

Ms. Pac-Man has all the charm of the arcade original and improves slightly on the first iPod Pac-Man game.

Ms. Pac-Man has two warp tunnels to play with, so make sure that you use them. They’re a great way of avoiding the ghosts, too.
To make life easier for yourself, try to eat as many of the dots before you start chomping on the power pills. That way you won’t end up with a situation where you’ve used up all your pills and you’ve still got half the maze’s dots to collect.
If you can reach it easily, then it’s worth going for the fruit, as although you won’t earn much on the early stages, they’re worth plenty of points on the later ones.
As the ghosts naturally follow you, stay by a power pill and wait until there are a few of them close by. Then, when you eat the pill, you should be able to get at least three of them.
