After a Louisiana resident, John Kiel Patterson, filed a lawsuit against Apple contending that the iPod can cause permanent hearing loss, it seemed sensible for Apple to do something quickly, before the other 63 million iPod users decided that they’re also becoming deaf and wanted a slice of Apple’s profits. Their reply was the Volume Limit function, which enables you to set a new maximum volume for your iPod’s headphones and also put a combination into the iPod so that only you are able to adjust the limit. This is a sensible move, especially when you consider that the iPod can be played as high as 115 decibels and anything over 85 decibels can damage your hearing. |
