Very much so. Despite every IT specialist and media analyst claiming that podcasting would be the ‘Next Big Thing’, take up is still pretty slow – mostly because, with the exception of Ricky Gervais, companies still can’t work out how to make money from them. Despite a wave of worldwide ignorance, subscribing to a podcast is remarkably easy and the range of them is diverse enough to ensure that there really is something for everyone. Go to the iTunes Store, click on Podcasts and then pick something that takes your fancy. There’s a wide range of topics too, from the obscure (Making Science Radioactive) to the popular (movie trailers and British radio Djs). Then press the ‘Subscribe’ button and every time you run iTunes and you’re connected to the Internet, it will automatically find and download the latest chapter for you. Finally, connect up your iPod and it’ll transfer across. |
