Starting off with For No One from The Beatles, it soon swaps to Take Your Mama from the Scissor Sisters before it’s joined by George Michael and Aretha Franklin. Genius. Wild Rock Music 14.12.06 Madonna/Steppenwolf Improving a Madonna song isn’t the hardest task on the planet, but making one that’s audible to anything apart from children and domestic pets is slightly harder. Thankfully, this is a Mash Up that does the old girl proud. We Need A Filthy War 14.12.06 Various Earworm is notorious for making Mash Ups that use multiple sources rather than just two or three, yet this one (which contains samples from six songs) actually sounds a lot more natural than you’d imagine it would. Recommended. Stairway To Bootleg Heaven 14.12.06 Various Oddly, this Mash Up takes the Dolly Parton version of the Led Zeppelin classic rather than the original, but it’s all the more haunting for it. Layered and deep, it’s one that definitely grows on you. Computer Talk 14.12.06 Coldplay/Kraftwerk If you’ve listened to Talk by Coldplay and wondered where you heard the main riff before, then this supplies the answer: it’s taken from Computer Love by Kraftwerk. This Mash Up is a obvious one, but it does work exceedingly well. Slow Angel 14.12.06 Kylie/Massive Attack A genuinely beautiful song and the perfect Mash Up, as it stands up as a song in its own right.
