I really want one but as theyve been out for a litle while im thinking as soon as i buy one a month later aplpe are going to launch something even more impressive and worth the money so could i get some advice as to what to do? Anyone have any thoughts?

Hmm, that's a tricky one, as I'd hate to recommend that you do something and it gets updated a couple of weeks later.

Looking realistically though, Apple are unlikely to update the iPod for a good few months yet, so it all depends on how desperate you are to get a new iPod.

Also, iPods do hold their price very well, so you could buy a video one now and sell it when the next model appears and you probably wouldn't lose that much money.

Hope that helps.

Its the same with everything these days, sooner or later you have to bit the bullet! Unless you are aware of a specific new release then your are always likely to buy somethimg that within 6 months could be out of date. Thankfully like Mortz says the iPod has a good chance of holding its value so hopefully you could get a good return on it if needed.
