That depends on the file size and the program you’re using. A top-quality application (like Videora for PC or iSquint for Mac should convert a video file in roughly the same amount of time it would take to play it. So if, for example, you had a 30-minute TV show you wanted to convert, it should take you around half-an-hour to make an iPod-ready version. If you can, it’s worth doing a batch conversion – so you set up the software to convert a group of files one after another. Another factor regarding conversion time is the format you choose. Converting to MPEG-4 is much quicker than choosing H.264, but (arguably) you suffer in the quality of the video file. |
